It’s only been a year and a few months since Apple’s iPad launched, but as of last quarter, it has already passed 9.2 million iPads for $6 billion in revenue Apple’s 27-year-old Mac business 3.9 million Macs for $5.1 billion in revenue.
While Windows continues to be dominant in PC+tablet platform sales with 84% of units sold in the last quarter, the growth belongs to tablets which captured about 90% of it.
Apple’s iPad represents 89% of tablet traffic across all markets. In the US the figure is 97%
The iPad accounts for 1% of the global web browser market and 2% in the US.
This means that for every thousand page views by a tablet, 965 come from an iPad, 19 from a Galaxy Tab, 12 from a Xoom and 3 from a PlayBook. With 25m iPads sold, that would imply on a like-for-like basis that there are something like half a million Galaxy Tabs in use, and 325,000 Xooms. source In the US mobile browser market, the iPad grabs 25.5% which trails the iPhone 35.2% and Android devices 31.6%.
In Canada, the iPad drives 33.5% of all non-PC traffic
